Blending realism and abstractions creating artwork to move people emotionally. Do florals make you happy also? The colours seem a constant reminder that the sun will shine even if I'm experiencing a rainy day on the inside. Influences behind my work include European artists MC Escher, Gustav Klimt and Salvador Dali, as I am drawn to the idea behind surrealism seen through symbolism, pattern and line-work.

Using nature as inspiration and working within the realm of my imagination, no reference photos are used. A fleeting memory of what it is to be outside, in nature. Connecting to something greater than myself I aim to create something dreamlike, a walk into the here,now and beyond what you can see and touch.

I have really been loving painting florals this year. maybe it's because they are the one thing I can see as my mobility has been challenged over the last few months. I left pieces of the underpainting, to depict the transitional cycle in nature (and ourselves), all those lovely scars make us who we are for this moment in time.

This was inspired by summer - a wishing it was here now. As I was recovering from surgery and inspired to be outside, smelling the floral scents and feeling the warmth on my face. It has a lot of texture in it created through the additions of mediums. Many layers have been worked up to create something light and airy. You will note the stencil, line and pattern work as well as faint traces of pastel and graphite in places. Teal and violet make the overeall feeling of this painting serene.
