Abstract artworks

This is a collection of pieces I have been painting over the last few years and they were created without thought for the end product by completely surrendering to the process. Using intuition, they came to me. I was only the vehicle by which they manifested. Sometimes the painting called me to wait many months before it could be completed. Other times it came together in a flurry. Somewhere along the line a name for each piece came to me. Abstracts are conversational pieces for the art lover that feels connected to something that is hard to explain in words. They range in size from a fairly small canvas to a entire wall (multi panel artwork).

While all the artwork I create has an abstract feel, these pieces are very intuitive, and came together without the planning stage. They emerged from my subconscious. It is my hope that they will touch you on a deeper level.

72x24 The Great Divide

This painting is made up of three panels each measuring 24 x 24 inches. The painting “connects” as the colors and shapes move across the stage. The soft color teal on top provides a focal point into the eternal. This painting asks one to consider enlightenment, God, the universe and the beginning and end of all creation. Like all color and shape there is an alternative message in the canvas if you look beyond the obvious. The square provides a sense of order, balance, and groundedness in our physical world. Its spiritual meaning encompasses themes such as stability, protection, and the union of opposites like heaven and earth or the material and the spiritual realms.

18x14 Nucleus of creation

This painting speaks about the creation of the world as a tiny seed manifests itself into a great tree. As I reworked this painting I was seeking to find balance in the colors. The grey toned blues give it a feeling of peace and tranquility, while the spark of red sienna breathes life into the subject. Darker blues are representational of practices such as meditation or prayer to promote a deeper connection with one’s inner self. It would make a wonderful addition to your home. Painted in 2024.

18x24 Looking Inward

Painted with 4 layers of paint - This piece took many months to complete as I was guided by intuition, watching it unfold and come into being. Teal has been used to represent the connection between ourselves and divine forces while the circles and swirly line work represent a supernatural motion that keeps things moving continuously. Dots represent divine energy. Spirals are representational of a change of life, rebirth and connection of our inner and outer worlds. It would make a great addition to your home or office. 14x11 Waiting

This painting came together during a period of great transition in my life. Waiting, can be the hardest thing to do sometimes. Can you see the bird that organically was formed in the right hand side under the crashing wave? The blues are symbolic of the waves that threaten to take over our lives and drown in the mucky mire of life. The oranges bring in a nice glow and balance out the painting with a very complimentary contrast. It would make a great addition to your home and add a spark of lively color. Painted in 2024.

16x20 Undersea beauty

I was inspired by the beauty of the sea. I used to do a lot of diving along the coral reefs, where the sea fans would gently rock on the movement of the currents under water. I could spend countless hours staring out into the great “nothingness’ on the edge of the reef. Created using magenta, and golds over a cool underpainting of blue there appears to be a depth as one feels the magic of the sea pull you in as you glide across the bottom of the ocean into the abyss. It would make a great addition to your home or office. Painted in 2023.

This will provide endless conversation as you look for all the faces that came into being. There are seven faces inside this painting, can you see them? These represent the many faces we put on as we walk through life, it speaks about the cultural and ancestral beliefs that live on in us, and after us as we move through life. Depicts the movement of birds in flight.

12x12 Moving through space and time

Painted in 2024. I used phalo green with splashes of yellow ochre along the timeline. The inspiration behind this would be all the photos taken from deep space on the hubble telescope. This painting depicts moving from one realm to the next and in the top left-hand corner, when the light is just right, you can see a wolf’s face within the collage. The wolf is seen as a symbol of guardianship, signifying a person’s journey to self-discovery or overcoming personal obstacles. The rough and imperfect coat of epoxy is symbolic of the meteorites, movement and imperfectness of life. Painted in 2023. Reworked in 2024.
