This painting was featured in the book "Not an Island" Fall 2024 edition. I was inspired by the beauty of the raven. On the West Coast of Canada, I have a lot of opportunity to view them year round and they are a very interesting bird. In Native American traditions, ravens represent the creation of the world and good luck. Painted in Prussian blue with transparent layers and bursts of orange and quinacridone gold one can almost imagine the swirling of the universe coming into being.
