seascapes & landscapes
Blending realism and abstractions to create artwork that touches on a feeling, more than a reality. I love painting, using color, moving in time to music, poetry and random thoughts colliding as something starts to form and shift into being on the canvas or paper. Many times I am very loose in my painting, I have an idea, a start in mind. Working intuitively, the middle and ending are an interpretation. Sometimes paintings shift drastically over the years as I grow and change as a painter, and what seems like the end now, may be a middle later on. A continuation of the story. Like life. No clear ending until the music stops.

2026

18x24 Just out of reach
Painted in 2025.
This painting whispers come away with me. Inspired by the beauty of the mountains all around me. I used molding paste to create alot of texture and visual interest. The grey and teal toned blues give it a feeling of peace and tranquility, while the spark of red sienna and yellow ochre breath life into the subject. It would make a wonderful addition to your home. Painted in 2025.
Size: 18 x 24 gallery canvas, measuring 1.5 inches

Inspired by a love of the ocean, many days spent on the seashore, in a boat on the water – above and below. In my life I spend a lot of time walking my dog along the seashore and in the forest trails around Gibsons, admiring birds and fish interacting fueling the circle of life.

24x36 In the Arms of the Ocean
As I moved slowly I began to see more and more sea creatures popping out of the woodwork. Blocking them in and progressing with my intuition little by little it came together. The swirling white lines represent movement of the ocean the sky and man. They represent the full circle of life coming together.
"For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one," by Kahlil Gibran. This quote suggests that death is not an end but a natural transition, like the river flowing into the sea. Beautiful isn't it?
I have always had all these questions about life, death, God and the universe. A need to connect to the spiritual side of myself. A recognition that I can't do life on my own came as I was plummeted with pain and uncertainty. Again. How many times do we have to fall before we recognize that there is a better way to do life? I believe there is more to life than what I see, taste and touch each day. My paintings reflect the struggle of what it is to be human, have questions, doubt and pain - yet find the beauty in the moment as we survive and go forward.
