I have really been loving painting florals this year. maybe it's because they are the one thing I can see as my mobility has been challenged over the last few months. I left pieces of the underpainting, to depict the transitional cycle in nature (and ourselves), all those lovely scars make us who we are for this moment in time.

This was inspired by summer - a wishing it was here now. As I was recovering from surgery and inspired to be outside, smelling the floral scents and feeling the warmth on my face. It has a lot of texture in it created through the additions of mediums. Many layers have been worked up to create something light and airy. You will note the stencil, line and pattern work as well as faint traces of pastel and graphite in places. Teal and violet make the overeall feeling of this painting serene.

Painted in 2023. Reworked in 2025. Inspired by the flowers I look at each day I decided to rework a canvas that I painted in 2023, bringing in a better sense of balance to the flowers. Predominantly in magenta and golds they connect you with the sense of being outside.
