This painting took approximately 6 months to come together, as I was painting I began to see more and more sea creatures popping out of the woodwork. Blocking them in and progressing with my intuition little by little it came together. The swirling white lines represent movement of the ocean the sky and man. They represent the full circle of life coming together.
"For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one," by Kahlil Gibran. This quote suggests that death is not an end but a natural transition, like the river flowing into the sea. Beautiful isn't it?
I have always had all these questions about life, death, God and the universe. A need to connect to the spiritual side of myself. A recognition that I can't do life on my own came as I was plummeted with pain and uncertainty. Again. How many times do we have to fall before we recognize that there is a better way to do life? I believe there is more to life than what I see, taste and touch each day. My paintings reflect the struggle of what it is to be human, have questions, doubt and pain - yet find the beauty in the moment as we survive and go forward.
